filmic + visual artist . choreographer . dancer
This visio/film artist is a dancer, by passion and decades of her life. Her entry point for experiencing the world is often: choreography.
She is a voice for our time. Her work stands on an edge. ... She seems to dangle on the "edge," in a love affair with the dark unknown of newness in creation and its brink.
In the current era, with most everyone carrying a camera in-pocket -- a camera that connects them globally -- the importance of visual communication is unmatched. Today is an age for visio-smiths.
Dance carries within itself the breath and sweat and rhythms of the ancient lineage of humanity. Danceforms span time and predate history.
Ross sees " ... the essentiality of dance to human life. It is play and essence. It is superfluous, and yet it is fixed there, with reproduction and courting. Dance is with life, deeply. It's in the grit, the details, and the glory."
The body can tell a story with such depth, a depth that makes ones-and-zeros-language pale in naiveté, at times. A choreographer's eloquence has a special significance in a digital era. Ross believes, "the soma grounds the A.I. age, giving it relevance, wisdom, and a counterpoint as an acid test." Dance brings its ancient sage, soulfulness, and richness to the otherwise cold, digital front.
Elizabeth Ross is the creator and director of the first NFT dance show, The Ethereal Mirror. She coined the term, NFD, the non-fungible dance. Her work is currently touring in an educational exhibit and will be auctioned in 2025, with proceeds going to the New York Library of Performing Arts, Lincoln Center, and Kulture City support for the autism community.

Elizabeth Ross choreographed for Lululemon, Chick-fil-A, Levis, DJ Coco, Communicating Vessels record label, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Secret Stages music festival, CMJ music festival, spring fashion weeks, and for ballet and contemporary dance companies.

She is known for creating the first NFT dance show. Her choreography has been presented by the Baryshnikov International Arts Festival, the Birmingham Museum of Art, UAB, the Alys Stephens Center and many more galleries and theaters.

Elizabeth danced professionally for Dan Wagoner, and performed the premiere of his solo "Short Ride in a Fast Machine" at St. Mark's Theater, NYC.

An active B-girl, Elizabeth danced with a crew called Full of Smiles, in Tallahassee. As a child, her classical technique was developed by Dame Sonia Arova. She later attended undergraduate and graduate studies in dance, choreography, and directing at Florida State University.

She was an instructor of dance at the 92ndStY in NYC, Florida A&M University, Florida State University, University of Alabama Birmingham, and the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. She taught technique to Atlanta Hawks dancers, with Z-Pro Prep.

Her installations and choreography are marked by their design depth, innovation, and exuberant athleticism. "I find thrill in the philosophical 'cliff's edge' of new creation; I revel in the soulfulness of moving; I find joy in the body's energy; . . . I still love to dance," says Ross. She adds, "the Creator, the Trinity, gives me joy and is my reason to dance."
