DANCEe Wild Rumpus





Below, the Ocean and Max "sailing."
This dance adaptation of the beloved children's book Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak was commissioned by UAB and premiered at the Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center. DANCEe / the Birmingham Contemporary Dance Company along with dancers from the community and UAB's arts outreach program, ArtPlay. Performers, also, toured show to several grade schools in the area. 2015.

Second Glimpse
This site-specific dance series is a
sequel to the 2011 Glimpse. The work
was performed by the Birmingham
Contemporary Dance Company / DANCEe and featured in B-Metro Magazine's article "Everybody Dance
Now." Art direction is by Elizabeth Ross with photos taken by Edward Badham. 2014.

Smith
This piece tells the story of Vulcan, from Roman Mythology, and it premiered at the Vulcan Park in Birmingham, AL, a city which has a history in mining and steel production. Danced by the Birmingham Contemporary Dance Company / DANCEe, with guest performers from the Birmingham Ballet. Vulcan was played by Mario Gates. Soloists include: Jessica Bostany, Elizabeth Ross, and Amanda Vazquez. 2014.

Performance Features
Pictured here is the piece, "Of Love" by Gerri Houlihan. Ross and Stefan Zubal performed this choreography at the Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota, FL. 2010.
Ross danced in the installation "Choreographing Space" by e + i studio, with Eva Perez de Steele (architect) and Kim Jones (choreographer). This work was funded by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, as a part of the revitalization of "ground zero," after the 9-eleven tragedies.
